What is Subvoce?
Subvoce is a desktop application that reads subtitles from your screen, translates them into your chosen language and shows the translation as an overlay on your PC or on a compatible Android TV.
How does Subvoce translate subtitles?
You select the area where subtitles appear. Subvoce watches that area, recognises new lines of text and translates them with an AI model running on your own computer.
Does Subvoce work offline?
Yes. Once the required models are installed, subtitle recognition and translation run locally without an internet connection. Activating or checking your license may require a connection.
Does Subvoce send my subtitle text to the cloud?
No. Subvoce is designed around local processing, and translation does not send your subtitle text to a remote AI service.
Which languages are supported?
Subvoce focuses on translating English subtitles. Turkish is the primary target language; the full list of available target languages is shown inside the app and may expand over time.
Can I use Subvoce with games?
Yes. Subvoce was built with games in mind. It works with on-screen subtitles in most games and videos, as long as the text is visible in the area you select.
Can I use Subvoce on Android TV?
Yes. In Android TV Mode, Subvoce on your PC sends the translated subtitles to a compatible Android TV device on the same local network.
Does my TV need to support Android TV?
Yes. Android TV Mode requires a TV or streaming device running Android TV. Other smart TV platforms are not supported by this mode.
How does Android TV connection work?
Your PC and your Android TV need to be on the same local network. Subvoce sends the translated text from your PC to the TV over that network.
What is the difference between PC Mode and Android TV Mode?
PC Mode shows translated subtitles as an overlay on your computer screen. Android TV Mode sends them to your TV, which is useful when you play or watch on the big screen.
How fast is subtitle translation?
Subvoce is designed to feel natural during gameplay. In our illustrative example a line is read in about 186 ms and translated in about 72 ms, but real timing depends on your hardware and the content.
Why are subscriptions handled through Polar?
Polar is a platform specialised in digital products and recurring payments. Using it gives you a standard checkout, and Subvoce does not need to directly process your payment details.
How does the Lifetime plan work?
The Lifetime plan is a one-time purchase with no recurring payments. Its terms are described in the License Agreement.
Where can I buy the Lifetime plan?
Like the subscriptions, the Lifetime plan is sold through Polar. It is a one-time payment and does not renew.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes. Subscriptions are managed through Polar and renew until you cancel. Cancellation and refund rules are explained in the Subscription Terms and the Refund / Cancellation Policy.
What happens if I change or reinstall my computer?
Contact support with your purchase details and we will help you move your license. The exact rules are described in the License Agreement.
